Christian Education for Youth

Journey to Adulthood (J2A)
A program of spiritual formation for youth

Christian Formation is a life-long process in one's journey of faith. The Journey to Adulthood Program for Youth ages 11 to 18, gives young people a firm foundation on which to build. It balances Bible study, prayer, and both serious and playful activities to nurture the whole person during the treacherous passage from childhood to adulthood.

This program provides a liturgical framework for the experiences of young people in our modern culture. It celebrates their individuality and their creative potential and instructs them in skills needed for successful adult participation in church and society.

The curriculum falls into three distinct phases, each of which is two years in length:
  • Rite-13
  •
  • J2A (Journey to Adulthood)
  •
  • YAC (Young Adults in the Church)
  • The groups meet on Sunday mornings from 9:15-10:15 and the 2nd Sunday evening of the month from 5:00 to 7:00 pm.

    Special Activities and Events
  • Special Challenge Camp at Claggett: Youth and Adults from St. Mark's spend one week in August staffing a camp for developmentally challenged adults. This is an important ministry of the parish.

  • Drama: There is talent and interest at St. Mark's in using drama to portray Biblical events, particularly during the Gospel during liturgy.

  • Outreach: The students participate in the Annual Diocesan Hunger Walk.
